Tulsa Botanical Gardens

We went to Tulsa Botanical Gardens yesterday.  The hyacinths, tulips and daffodils were in full bloom!  It was nice to get out and just meander through the park.

If you get a chance to go, be sure and get your tickets ahead of time or you may not get in!  We had to wait 30 minutes “until more tickets opened up”, whatever that meant.  Had a great time and it smelled wonderful!

The park is fairly new so they are working on growing it.  It is look aid out very nicely.  Be sure and look at the map if you go though.  There are several paths, but only the one across the long bridge goes to the tulip garden.  I walked all the children’s paths first, so by the time I got to the tulip garden I was neat - but I still walked around the lake.  We had a beautiful day for tiptoeing through the tulips!

So Much..

It has been a rough 2 months.  My head hurts.  I have no idea why.  Some days it is a low grade, some days it is throbbing.  I need a zero day.  I am just sick all over and have no idea why.

I am still recovering from our mad dash down to visit Uncle Danny.  That was 12+ hours one way.  The good news is he is doing much better, but still in hospice - going home tomorrow.  Please pray for my Uncle Danny and Aunt Carol.

While I was there, I got to see my cousin Pamela, Uncle Danny’s daughter, and her (grown) children.  We had a great visit and I sure enjoyed really chatting with her kids.  She has 2 wonderful girls, Laura and Audrey, and one son Karl.  All are very pleasant and talented; the girls are in college and Karl managing a fast food restaurant..

This is Audrey, Pam, Liz, Danny and I:

And this is Audrey, Red, Pam and Laura:

I have so much more to say, but I am honestly struggling.  I go to the hematologist Wednesday and next Monday is my top up.  One Dr or the other will try to figure out what my problem is - or I will die trying to get them to.  I have zero energy, my head aches, my entire body is inflamed, my brain fog is ridiculous, my hair has turned to dry straw and I just want to stay in bed.  I sleep until 8:30!  I am an eyes pop open at 6 kinda gal.

BUT, I don’t stay in bed.  I keep putting one foot in front of the other, I occasionally cook and I sew (sit) a lot.  I try to clean, but I don’t do a great job.  I have 2 real puppies running around and a whole lot of little furball puppies everywhere - meaning I need to vacuum!
😂

Not sure if I am going to like this quilt,
but we will soon see:

This is what I have finished:

This is the pattern in the magazine - with mistakes that I changed in mine:

And this picture is why I chose it. It was like an old fashioned quilt.

Taking my brother home tomorrow.  It is a 6 hour round trip.  *sigh*  Oh, well, we do what we gotta do.

Night all.

My Uncle Danny Forever :-)

This man, my Uncle Danny, means more to me than you can ever imagine.  I just needed to embrace myself in his love and memories.  He is absolutely amazing to our family.  He always believed in me, always encouraged me and loved me unconditionally.

He shared stories about living in Canada and Greenland.  Negative 76 Celsius?  Nope!  Not me.  But yes, he did!  And yes, he actually IS a rocket scientist - before NASA - in fact he was a part of its birth.  The stories that he shares draw you in with clarity - and I could never hear enough of them.  I recorded a few today,  just as I recorded a few from his mom, my grandma Nimrod.  I was so blessed to be a part of both of their lives.
I lived with my grandparents.  I have lived with Uncle Danny.  His first wife, my Aunt Janie, taught me to sew - that had been a lifetime of love.  The few gifts I got in my life were from Aunt Jane and Uncle Danny; a small coo-coo clock, real ballerina tippy toe slippers, a tambourine, a beautiful dancer jewelry box... a black onyx and pearl ring... all treasured.  Gone now, but those memories will never be gone.

Aunt Carol has been his wife for a long time - many years.  He picked another winner - she is such a wonderful, gentle person.  I can’t imagine life without any of these precious people, but life was never meant to be forever, so we must to treasure the moments.

Thank you, Uncle Danny and Aunt Carol.  😊

Today was wonderful.  💕  Tomorrow morning, just a few more memories to last a lifetime.  I love you.

Quick Update

Been having a rough few weeks.  I have an awful headache, sinus infection of course, stomach issues from so many antibiotics, and generally I feel weak, not ‘ok’ and very off.  I am fighting nausea, achy, joints hurt and my heart keeps fluttering.  I am thinking my thyroid tanked.  I go to the cancer Dr next week and he will run bloodwork to see what is up.

This past weekend some very dear friends came for the weekend.  The girls went quilt shop hopping, the guys hung out, moved the Broncho, getting ready for the crawfish boil in late April.  We sewed, Mike ate the apple pie, told me I needed more experience, so he ran to the store and got more flour, and I made another apple pie. He ate a couple more pieces of pie this morning!  I think he likes my apple pie!  😂

I woke at 7 today.  I thought I had heard a knock on the door.  I came through the living room, barefoot, and squished through the living room.  Our hot water tank blew through the night, and water has saturated the living room carpet, the laundry room and the entry way.  There was no knock unless it was God knocking on my noggin.

Mike and Laura left later than they wanted to, but we were thankful they could help.  Steve and I ran and bought another hot water heater.  Mike and Steve had gotten the other one out.  The new one was too big, so Todd and Steve removed the door and jamb and shoved it in.  Now they are working on hooking it all up.

In the meantime, my very dear uncle Dan, my dad’s brother, has been terribly ill in the hospital.  Jeremy jumped in the car and went to see him, but he was sleeping from the pain meds.  They at least got to see him.  I think they are going to try to remove a gall stone tomorrow, but he is fragile.  They have warned it is a risky but necessary surgery for him.  That will be tomorrow.  Please say prayers for Dan.

I have 2 quilts on the board!  I will finish one this week, and be well on the way on the second one.

That is a quick catch-up.  Ha!  Nothing I ever do is quick.

Ancestry for the Decline

I have had a rough week.  Haven’t forgot about blogging, just not well enough to think.  I have spent the down time organizing all the different genealogy documents from many families that I have gotten over the years.  I have totes and totes of them, but every one was mixed - all families in all tubs.

Finally I have them divided by families and even individuals.  His family, my family, generations of our families, other families and friends mixed in there.  Goodness.  Now I am working/entering in ancestry.com

Steve tries to get me out of the house when I get worse health wise.  Most likely because it dumps me into a deeper depression.  So earlier this week he made a ‘date’ with me today to go to estate sales.  We didn’t get much, but I found 20 preprinted Oklahoma quilt blocks for $15!  I am only sharing 3, but I love them!  Hopefully, I will make the quilt soon.

************
I get my IGIV Monday, so hopefully I will make a turnaround next week.  I have a bad sinus infection, I have been on antibiotics for 6 weeks for it.  This week, Dr changed my prescription to two antibiotics at a time.  The headache is terrible.  Then the full body itching again.  No rash, just itching from head to toe.  And the shaking.  Let’s just say this past week sucks.

Wednesday I went and got my second Covid vaccine.  It gave me an awful headache to add to the one I have had for over a month.  I have been miserable-er.  If that is possible.

Anyhoo, that is where I am this week.  Hopefully, things will turn around soon.  Later gator.

Mooo an Booo!

I am down for the count for a bit.  My sinus infection got worse and threw me into a lupus flare.  This one a pretty bad one.  Boo!

Something that happens with me randomly and pretty often is the shakes - I have always trembled, but these are beyond a tremble.  We have no idea why I do, but it is pretty scary.

Here are the south pasture kids.  I had been feeding them until I crashed.  They are funny... moo-talks - I am sure because I am a new person.  Can you imagine what they are saying?  Moo!!

And Jake insists on a ride in the evening to come in.  It’s a bribe for Steve to catch him.  Steve falls for it every day.  Occasionally, Chelsea joins, she did here.  Crazy fur babies.  ❤️

Night all.  I am beat.

Oh!  Second Covid shot today!!   Waiting to glow, talk Chinese or turn into a Rona-ite.  🤣

We Saved a Baby Bull Again !

Megan, thankfully, waited to have her calf until we were above sub zero temps.  We kept checking on her and it was just after dark when she had him.  We watched them both close and she was frantically trying to dry him off.  The temp outside was 17, so we knew we had to watch closely.  Steve went back to check on them about and hour later, and the calf was shivering terribly.

He loaded the calf on the 4-wheeler and brought him home.  Having been through this before, we backed my truck into the garage, put a soft blanket in the bed of the truck, put a heating pad on low down, put an old sheet down, put the baby (boy) down, put another sheet on him, then a nice warm blanket on him. We put an oil heater out in the garage and turned it up high.

Little guy was still shivering uncontrollably.  I ran and got my blower dryer with the defuser and dried him off.  He has a very thick curly coat!  🥰  He is adorable.  😍

After we dried him, we covered him with the sheet and blanket and went to bed at 1am.  I set the alarm to check on him for 3:30.  He was dozing and still covered.  Checked again at 6:20, got dressed in many layers and drove my truck out to him mom who was pining in a corner for him.

It took her a few minutes, but once she smelled his umbilical cord she started tending to him.  He has nursed and is fine❤️

A few years ago, a mom had her calf during a freeze and we found him with his eyes froze open and rigid.  Our vet has told us not to consider them dead until they are warm and dead, so we brought a stiff icy calf into the garage and did the exact same thing for him.

It took hours for him to loosen up and unfreeze.  We settled in for the long haul and by the time we though he had a chance we went to bed.  We checked on him several times, and when we went to check on him in the morning he was standing in the bed of my truck and bellowed the instant the door opened.  🎉

We took him out to his mom who was waiting by the gate and she immediately started tending to him.

Farm life.  ❤️
