Our Whirlwind Trip to Batam

Yesterday I was invited on a trip to Batam, Indonesia with some friends.  Batam is located 20 km (12.5 miles) off Singapore's south coast and is one of the 17,508 Indonesian Islands.  It takes a mere 30-50 minutes, depending on what dock you leave from and where you are going to get to the island by ferry.

So with our passports in hand, we went to get our ferry tickets:

If we looked lost, it was because we were  :-)

We relaxed at the "Tuck Shop" while awaiting boarding time:

And since it was so early in the day, we passed on the fish head curry.

Oh darn!

We boarded the ferry:

And excited and anticipating our shopping spree, we finally 'set sail' to Batam:

Soon we arrived in Indonesia:

Or was it Malaysia?!

No, I am certain it was Indonesia, but my phone didn't know any better  :-)

We took a taxi to Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall:

And we shopped:

And shopped some more:

We rested:

Resisted the urge to get a wonderful new dessert:

And we watched the people go by:

And then we shopped some more:

And shopped some more:

We did pass on a few things though:

Soon the day was over and it was time to say goodbye to Batam:

Sadly, we took our bags of  loot and headed for the ferry:

We had shopped until we dropped:

We bravely boarded the ferry:

And relaxed while we sailed the beautiful seas once again:

Our whirlwind trip to Batam was over, and
Singapore was waiting for us  :-)
