Chijmes

Chijmes is our favorite place to go in Singapore to eat - mainly because of the atmosphere. Steve found it when he was staying nearby at a hotel years ago. When I first came to Singapore, it was one of the first places we went.

It is incredibly beautiful at night, but I am only sharing daytime pictures today. These were taken on our weekend adventure last weekend.

You can read more about Chijmes here:

These picture are from in front of the complex:

Closer so you can get a better view of the details:

It is amazing to look up and see the wonderful architecture of the steeple:

Entering the courtyard, the halls are beautiful; columns, staircases, and arches:

From inside the courtyard, the view is breathtaking:

There are actually two couryards, upper and lower:

Our favorite place to eat is the Pizzeria Giradino - it is on the upper courtyard:
and Bobby's, a steak house in the lower courtyard - this view looking from across the courtyard from the upper courtyard:

This is the way we enter Bobby's. If you look closely on the upper right courtyard, that is the pizzeria we love:

Finally, the courtyard as we leave:

During our tour, we realized there was a parking garage there - I guess since we don't have a car we had never even considered parking... lol...

I hope you are enjoying our tour as much as we have. There are so many beautiful things to see and do in Singapore, I don't want to miss a thing!
It is so fascinating to imagine how these buildings were built - 150+ years ago, and they are still standing! I love looking at the different forms of achitecture. How amazing. How did they do that without the heavy construction equipment we have today? A labor of love from many people...

Wow, that looks similar to the Saint Louis Cathedral in New Orleans when you are looking at it from the street. Absolutely beautiful.
