Or shall I say taxi toys? Can comeone please tell me the big deal about the toys on taxi dashes? I must say some are pretty interesting to look at... if you dare look out the front window... and nearly every taxi has them. I don't know if regular cars here do or not - I am not privy to that information - I only ride in taxi's... lol...

those are not toys actually. the ones placed on the dash boards are mostly religious statues (the mini-versions) & those hanging from the rear-view mirror are protective amulets or stones.
the knots near the top of the strings are "mystic knots". u can find them in chinatown or bugis areas in many forms and they are good decorative items for the home.
Thanks to my anon poster - I thought the ones on the dash were religious and suspected some hanging had to do with safety - was not certain though. Really appreciate the info.
Do their cars all smell really good? In Japan, the houses are so cramped that they can't keep the houses looking and smelling clean, so they put extra care into making their cars perfect, and always smelling absolutely wonderful.
