This is Where It Starts... Bus Tours

The Golden Mile Complex and Tower is "the place to go" to look for bus tours.  It is located here at 5001 BEACH ROAD:

And looks like this:

When we booked the Malacca tour with Konsortium bus tours, we had no idea the goldmine we would find when we went to this rundown building.  Our taxi dropped us off right in front of the Complex:

And we walked to the Golden Complex Tower (different than the complex - but next to it) to the Konsortium Office:

Where we were pleasantly surprised to see this:

Tour after tour of selections to go anywhere we wanted:

After booking our round trip ticket to Malacca (S$30.00 each way, S60 round trip per person),  we browsed around a bit and found rows of tour groups, not just Konsortium:

And lines of buses picking up their passengers to take us to all parts of Asia:

They were tucked in every little nook and cranny around:

I dare say there were DOZENS of tour/bus companies centered out of this one complex!

They sat ready to load us up and haul us off:

The buses were quite roomy, complete with TV screens, earphones and music.

Steve was even comfy kicking back and resting - and he is 6'1" tall!

The trip took around 4 hours each way - including stops at the Singapore and Malaysian Immigration clearances.  Easy breezy...

We stayed overnight in the Equatorial Hotel:

A beautiful hotel with a cozy feeling:

The bus brought us right up to the door as did other buses:

And we walked around the historic part of Malacca nearby that afternoon and the next day until the bus picked us up at 2pm - again at the door.

If you are thinking about going, and wonder about the food, there is a McDonald's and Pizza place across the street - and in the hotel there is a wonderful buffet of local foods.  Be sure and try that out.  Equatorial is a great place to stay - right in the heart of the historic district and near China Town and Little India for great shopping.

Total cost of a 2 day weekend in Malacca, including bus fare, hotel reservations for one night (in an awesome room) and ooodles of Christmas gifts was $420.15  USD.  WHOOT!

Well worth the journey  :-)

And there will be more about the journey starting tomorrow... Stay tuned...

Man, I wish we had known about that when I was there...although, 4 hours in a bus for Raelee wouldn't have been too fun I guess.

And again...HEY, I KNOW THAT BUILDING!
ROFLMAO I always said it looked like steps from the highway.
