I have tried to upload pictures three times. It says they are here. Can. I am glad they uploaded this time and I CAN see them. This is looking out of our balcony (you do remember the view, right?) and seeing a thick layer of brownish smoke over the entire city. We can barely see the Flyer - you remember that too, right?
I know smoke when I see it. If it looks like smoke, and smells like smoke, then it probably IS smoke. Dust particles, unlike what is being told to us, does not smell like smoke. The acrid odor of smoke has been lingering for 3 days now.
We have been told by the newspaper that based on the latest satellite pictures, which showed seven hot spots in Sumatra but no significant smoke plumes - it was unlikely the haziness had stemmed from there.
We have been told my taxi drivers that is from the fires in Australia. Where do they get their information? Probably assumption, because the fires in Australia are so bad.
There is also some hint that the lallang fires, one on Thursday and another yesterday, could have contributed to the 'particle accumulation' as well.
It is smoke. Not 'particle accumulation'. Smoke is smoke. And smoke is not good for anyone, much less those of us with asthma. FYI we will not be doing anything fun or adventurous this weekend - everything in Singapore is outside. Everything. Eating. Hiking. Going to Sentosa Island. Photography. East Coast Parkway Walk. Roller Blading. Bicycling. Outside.
Shopping? Inside. Ugh. In Singapore? Ugh-er.
