I May Be A Woman But...

I know when things are not right. Things are not right.

I don't have to have a carpenter, or a hubby or even a man to tell me this is not right:

Just in case you do not see the problem I have with this, look very closely at the edges of the sink compared to the hole they cut out:

Edge 1:

Edge 2:

Edge 3:

Edge 4:

Can you tell me exactly what the sink is supposed to hold on to?

And should the sink butted up to the backsplash with a very wide lip in front?

If so, how are they going to attach the laminate? They only have a teensy tiny edge to work with...

And isn't the laminate supposed to be attached before this cut was made?

Here are step-by-step instructions to install a sink:

This is what it says about the backsplash:

"Adjust the sink to leave 1 1/2 inches between its back edge and the backsplash. Be sure sink is parallel with the counter's edge."

I don't care if it is exact - closer would have been nice.

Can someone please turn off the light when they are not in our attic? It was on and that is why I had to go into the attic. When I went up to turn the light off, this is what I saw:

I know our insulation did not look like this. It was not turned topsy turvy the last time we went up there. We have lived here for 16 years and it has always been very neat up there. I can and will double check with hubby just to be sure he didn't go rummaging through it - but I seriously doubt that is the case. Can someone tidy it up please?

I know they want to get this job over, but what is being done is prolonging it. We want it right - not just done.

On the plus side, our drawers got made:

and a couple got installed:

The front is not on yet - they will be coming in any day now :-)

And now onto a bright note. I went to the dermatologist today and got a few things like that nasty rash checked out. Nickel rash? How can you get a nickel rash where there is no nickel? Reading a bit on the internet, it does indeed even sound like a nickel rash. Odd...

Ok, that is not the bright note. Well, maybe when the rash is gone, but the real bright note is that I called Dee, a friend for a bazillion and one years. We are more than friends, I think we are sisters at heart. She is someone I don't talk with on a daily/weekly or monthly basis, but when I do, we always pick up right where we left off and it is like we were never apart.

I had to go to the dermatologist today and called Dee to ask her if she could go to lunch and shop with me. She came and we went. We ate, and we shopped until she dropped - and I kept on shopping. I had called Steph in to help finish the day - as a bonus Penny and Steph got to at least see each other. I had the best time and didn't really find a thing - well, not for me, but I found a few dresses a sweet blonde would like :-)

Anyway, we shopped for hours and did not find the curtains for the bedrooms I needed, but Dee remembered a comforter with curtains, shams and a pillow that she had. She no longer wanted it, but thought it would match. Does it match! WOW!

Isn't it beautiful? I can't wait until I get the bedroom set up. I love it all! Thank you so much Dee.

I had a wonderful day catching up, crying on each other's shoulders, laughing about kids and *gasp* how do get into some of the conversations we get in to? Thinking back, I should be embarrassed - but I am not! I just giggle one more time. I had a great time - we really need to do this more often. Allen? I ratted you out. I told her about our Shoney's encounter years ago - I cannot believe YOU didn't tell her before now. Was it because I embarrassed you? I just love it when I do that - and in front of Penny no less :-)

Thanks again Dee; for the loot and for the day.

It was a great day to get away from all the comotion here at the house - totally away. However, coming home was a letdown. I am not a carpenter, but I do know when things are not right. Am I over reacting? I don't think so. There is no wiggle room on this sink - and now you would have to finish perfectly for it to be done right. How can you do the job so well up until the finish work, then haphazardly do the final steps?

Some things are very upsetting - I feel like someone is trying to sneak something in under the radar. Should I always have to have a radar on?
