Saturday it was entirely too cloudy to take pics for my preference.  I hate taking pics on an overcast day - even though the professionals say it is the best time.  For me, it is not the best time - nothing comes out crisp and clear like I want it to.  However, Sunday dawned bright and sunshiny, so we went back to the Helix Bridge and took some more pics.
Singapore has some great bridges; the Henderson Wave, the Coleman Bridge, the Cavenagh Bridge and the Anderson Bridge - and of course newly added to the list is the Helix Bridge.  I am sure there are many others, but I think the Helix Bridge may be one of my favorite bridges here in Singapore.
The Helix Bridge is very unique and interesting.  Here are a few pics so you can see it better:
We have no idea what that 'petal' looking thing on the side of the tall casino (Marina Bay Sands) is - we have heard many different theories.  Who knows what is right or wrong - we are just going to wait and see...
Now take a look at this bridge:
Going up on the bridge:
You know me, I have to look at it from all angles:
And finally we made it - now on the bridge:
This taken from one of the 'pods':
A few closer looks:
From the mechanical side of how it's built:
And finally, the story - it is very interesting - please read:
DNA - who woulda thunk it?  Lol... (not proper English, I assure you)
And finally, the project team that built it:
Now to go back at night and enjoy the night view on this one and the Henderson Wave...  It oughta be breathtaking.
Oh, and remember that sunshiny day I was so smugly waiting on?  It did me in; I melted into a little... well, not so little... puddle in just under two hours.  Poor Steve had to scoop me up and bring me home.  The sun is so freaking HOT here in Singapore!
Did I ever say my body is not made for heat?  Lol...
How did I end up in Singapore?
