Singapore Night Safari
We went to the Singapore Night Safari last night. The Singapore is the most amazing zoo I have ever been to - then to add the adventure of a night safari, well, it just makes it more exciting than ever!
It is touted to be the World's Greatest Night Safari - and I would not doubt one bit that it is indeed the best.
When we arrived, this was one of the first things I saw; I immediately decided I need one in my garden at home - in my very distant, not next to my swing garden. Wouldn't the grand kids love it?
Some little ones were watching in awe of the sounds coming from that little corner of the world:
We first stopped off at the Ulu Ulu Village to eat:
I watched the chefs deep in thought as they cooked:
One of my favorite things about Singapore is that there is always ample fresh fruit and veggies to eat while out; unlike America, here we have healthy choices everywhere we look:
For some reason, while waiting on our food, this caught my attention. It was pleasing to my eyes:
Or was it this that was pleasing to my eyes?
It was the liquor, I am sure of it.
These young lads picked a willing soul from the audience and had a great time with him. He was such a good sport.
He didn't end up looking like this - I think it is best left to the professionals! Since he didn't end up being a crispy critter - I think the show was amazing!
My only shot that came out of the bats was a wing - all I can say is wow! Isn't he AWESOME? The bats were flying all around us in the bat cage; small ones and large ones - it was the coolest thing ever! I love these not so little creatures of the night :-)
I am not great with my photography by any means, but I will learn. Sheer frustration keeps me trying - and my determination will reap rewards. Eventually. Until then, I will be happy with the memories and the few 'dumb luck' photography shots that I actually get.
We were going to Mt Fabre and Henderson Wave today, but I woke up not feeling well. I could not put my finger on it, but finally thought to take my blood pressure. It was 117/58! Duh, maybe that was why I felt like a limp noodle. It was a sign - it started pouring anyway so it is just as well. I will not take blood pressure meds tonight, and tomorrow I will be right back to normal. Today we are grocery shopping online. Fun. It is not as easy as it sounds...

THE 'Dragon'. Finally.
Of course, I only had my point and shoot, but I got a picture of THE dragon I have sought from day 1. This is the not-so-little guy I saw when I first got here. He is in the same place, sunning on the new concrete blocks they have added - which I am sure kept him in hiding temporarily. Enlarge the crummy pictures and look at his claws! Yikes! Now compare him to his surroundings. He is not an itsy, bitsy, cutesy lizard either! And he is not an agliator or cropadile as my son used to say.
So now I can rest - I finally know I was not seeing a 'dragon' - I was indeed seeing a water monitor. Now we can just admire each other from a distance - because they run really FAST! I have seen him run - and I cannot outrun him. Thankfully, he was heading for the water. If he was headed to me, I would have been dragon food... lol...
The end of this search ;-) Aren't you relieved? Finally, the search is over. Nice to know what swims in our waters, isn't it?

Korean Islands: Simply Beautiful
I think this is the last of the posts about Korea. I may come across a few more that I wanted to talk about, but today I just wanted to show the beauty of the land and water. It was breathtaking:

Our captain took us into it!
See the light at the other end?
Nope - he could not squeeze through it. Thank goodness he didn't even try. It was very windy that day, and I honestly didn't think they would even give it a go to get into the crevice, but if you see the white glove on the left, that was the other captain directing him. They were very careful, and we got to see how deep those rocks are. It was beautiful.
The flowers were beautiful. I posted some earlier, but these were my favorite of all. I have no idea what they are, but they are neon bright and beautiful. I want to find out what they are, so if you know, share please?
So as a last thought, I loved Korea's weather, the people, and the scenery. I was not so thrilled about the food poisoning and the smell in most places, but the rest made up for what I had trouble tolerating. To be fair, I was so sick for the food poisoning that once I got back to Singapore it was another week before I even came close to feeling like normal, so it could have easily been that I was hypersensitive to it all.
Regardless, it was a beautiful and amazing trip. I am so glad I was able to go to Korea to experience a bit more how the rest of the world lives. Actually being in the moment, in a country you have never been in - well, you just cannot describe it. It was breath taking:

Oedo Island, Korea
Oedo Island is a beautiful private island that is off the coast of Koje Island. It is an entire island of massive gardens; a true paradise on earth. It opened to tourist in 1995 and is has become a favorite attraction in Korea. I boasts some of the most exotic plants and art I have ever seen and was wonderful to browse around on. The tour boats only give you an hour and a half on it - not nearly long enough for Steve and I, but we had a wonderful visit on it and enjoyed most it had to offer - even if it was a bit rushed to see.
Here we are waiting on the boat to leave. This is a Korean couple that spoke very little English but wanted a picture with me. How fun :-) They later offered me a piece of dried squid which I politely declined, but they were very friendly.
Our tour guides were probably very informative. We will never know :-(

The boats that took us to Oedo were lined up to drop people off and pick us up. We were given a time to be there and a time to be back. When we came back, our guides counted us as we came on, and before people were seated, they left. We assumed he had the total amount he was supposed to as they did not waste one minute leaving.
The island is very unique. Take a look at the trees just as we step on the island:
From above we can see a beautiful scene below:
In and around the arch, there are Mediterranean style statues:
They were all amazing. Some were a bit more vivid than others and I chose not to share them - I don't want to embarrass anyone - especially the guys looking ;-) As we continued our walk, we found even more beauty:
It is a beautiful place to visit. Tomorrow I will share the pictures around the island - the natural beauty. Listen today and hear what you saw today and will be seeing tomorrow:
