Marina South Pier and St John's Island

We had a difficult time researching just how we were supposed to go to Kusu Island.  Apparently you can go several ways, but the one we finally ended up choosing was from Marina South Pier.  We had never heard of it, but thankfully the taxi driver, as usual, knew exactly where to take us.  On an island of 4 million people, it is amazing that they pretty much know most of the places on the island.  Marina South Pier looks like this:

Where you go to get a ticket is clear as mud as well.  As you enter the Marina, this is what you are looking for:

And this fellow will gladly take your money... S$30.00 round trip for St John's and Kusu Island:

Then he will ask you to wait for a bit.  While waiting, we very nearly had second thoughts:

Instead of thinking about the "Departure Hall", (it was kinda skeery) we walked out onto the pier and looked around for the boat we would take.  It was not the Riverboat:

And it was not the Dragon Boat:

Nopers, we weren't so lucky.  We got this boat:

Once we were on the boat, we realized we forgot to get a bag of coffee.  Literally.

So we got to sit and watch the guys that didn't forget their coffee drink it:

While sitting there, as usual I checked the safety features.  I was glad to see life vests in this boat:

We got to see a different view of the same casino we see from our balcony at the condo:

And after a short ride, we made it to St John's Island:

I couldn't figure out this sign on the dock.  It says no fishing, no anchor, no ? and no sitting on the fence, right?  Can you tell me, what exactly is that third one?

I will let you read all about St John's Island here:

I wasn't so much interested either...

We had gone over there for a hike.  The girls wanted to take the path of least resistance:

Of course the guys wanted to take the scenic route...

...regardless of what the sign said:

I was going to call for clarification on this sign, but thought it was rather clear.  So what did we do?  You get to guess... I am not tellin'!  But I will give you a hint:  I was with Steve.  (I bet Mike and Laura can guess which way we went  ;-)

And I am happy to report we did make it out safely and walk in the sunshine again  :-)

And we saw some beautiful sights:

And had a picnic on the beach with a beautiful view:

Debbi, this picture is for you.  Do you see what is outside on the porch?  Not the pet rooster silly... do you see what I am talking about?  Look very, very close:

You can't get more public than this, can you?  Even they can have a shoe rack on St John's Island!  lol...  I think we have grounds for a protest.  More on that later folks.  Today I am blogging about our St John's Island, tomorrow, Kusu Island.  Another day with a gripe.  Gotta love rules.

So we made it back to the gangplank... errr... dock to wait on our boat - all safe and sound and not under siege:

And I will close with a picture of Steve being a tourist on Kusu Island - tomorrow's blog:

Have a great weekend!  We are doing taxes, expenses and planning some more awesome trips to blog about.

Oh, and Kim says we need to BBQ.   :-)

once again another great posting .... we left from this terminal when I did that "inter Tidal Walk", but when I did Kusa Island I left from Harbour Front. .... lots of interesting boats / ferries / junks / bumboats ... and whatever else!

Thanx for sharing.

I think the sign means no kids swimming even with a parent on the dock??? LMAO

Looks like one person sitting, and another standing, so either dont push them off or no loitering on the dock? I think the first one would be just for fun but the other would get you in trouble. So I think the sign may be for the 2nd?

To remind parents to let their kids take a pee off the pier. heh.

Had a good look at this particular sign on Saturday .... still not entirely sure, but think it might be NOT TO SIT ON THE JETTY??

The fourth would be to not sit on the balustrade .... but that first one, now that really got me thinking!

100% convinced it means NO FISHING ... yet on Saturday there were at least 3 fishermen on that jetty, one of them standing in front of the sign with his fishing line in the water .... helloooooo???
