Chinese Gardens

I went on another trip to the Chinese Gardens for a photo shoot.  It is such a great place to play, however, it was super hot that day so we just took a few photos, wandered, enjoyed the critters and left.

These were among the best shots of the day:

We thought that carpenter bee was a great guy to shoot - with a camera - of course, until it came for Debbie.  Then she wasn't so sure  :-)

She ran for her life - and lived to talk about it.

Can you tell we were hot?

We found a couple of beautiful flowers:

The orchids here in Singapore are plentiful, and they take my breath away with their beauty:

Of course you cannot go to the Chinese gardens without taking pictures of stuff like this:

And of course there is a journey everywhere I look:

Off on the next adventure - not sure where it is - but I just know we will find one  :-)  Hope you have a great weekend!

The white flower above the orchid is the Crepe Ginger Plant. Often seen around Singapore but not many people seem to know what it is called ...

I remember taking aphoto of it a couple of years back and googled it so check:

Crepe ginger is a tall and dramatic landscape plant with large dark green leaves arranged on the stalk in a spiral. This Costus can grow to 10 ft (3.1 m) tall in frost-free areas, but typically grows to about 6 ft (1.8 m) tall in cooler regions where it is root hardy but dies back in winter.

The flowers appear in late summer or early fall, and are quite unusual looking. They form on red 4 in (10.2 cm) cone-shaped bracts, with several 2 in (5 cm) pure white crinkled flowers protruding from each cone. The flowers look like crepe paper - thus the common name of crepe ginger. After the flowers fade away, the attractive red cone-shaped bracts remain.
