15 Useless Things

A boot is not something you wear on your foot; it stores groceries in the cab on the way home.

Sometimes our drinks come in bags; not cans, not bottles.  Clear bags.  With a straw.

You can smell most grocery stores a block away.

Some days we are thankful for the grocery stores we cannot smell from a block away.

We have gotten used to eating our food as we look at its face.

Our fish comes complete with heads... and we can buy just the head if we so desire to make fish head soup.

Our cooking chickens will come from the grocery stores with head and feet if we are not careful.

We think nothing of seeing a duck or chicken hanging by its neck at the market.

Sometimes we see pig skins hanging at the market as well - complete with curly tail and snout.

Our hamburger and hot dog buns come unsliced.

If it grows in the dirt or wiggles because it is live, someone will eat it.

In the states, we have only seen the tip of the iceberg of the fruits and veggies available - there are hundreds here we have never seen much less know what to do with - but we are learning.

There are no cows here in Singapore, hence beef is very expensive as it is imported.

We now look at the USA newspaper sales online and think they are 'giving' the stuff away.

We use a dollar coin to "rent" a shopping trolley and get the dollar back upon its return.

We think nothing of hearing 8 different languages between here and the taxi.

another good post Euvah .....

I think Australia must come half way between USA and Singapore .... 'cos half of what is above is in Australia!

Maybe not the smelly grocery stores. But then that might depend on the area the store is in too... L0L...

We have a "boot" to store things in the vehicle
... and we have chickens and ducks hanging from hooks, we buy fish heads and cook them and we 'rent' trolleys in the supermarket!

All very normal... :-)
