Taylor B's Fine Design Group - Furniture and Home Decorating

You likey?  Both are for sale!

Last Friday I was invited to go to a furniture warehouse in Singapore.  I had not been to one, so I had no idea what to expect.  I was pleasantly surprised as I am most of the time on these adventures  :-)

First let me tell you about its location... Do you recall the Tiger Building near Vivo City on Keppel Road just off the side of ECP?  The big white building with the Tiger Beer on the side...  That is the building you are looking for.  When you find it, you have found the beginning of a gold mine.  Nope, it is not the Tiger Beer Distribution Company...

Inside that building is this little treasure of a place.  When you arrive at the building and park, you are not lost.  Wander around the back of the building and ignore all the other furniture store signs and doors. Find and talk to the guard at the back of the building, and he will point you to a warehouse door - literally.  It is a furniture loading door - on the back of the warehouse.  Yes, you are in the right place.  After leaving the guard shack, walk to the right, hugging the wall of the building and climb the little staircase leading to the loading dock on the right side.  Press the elevator button that you are sure you must not press - yeppers, that one with the huge wide door.  You could fit a car in that elevator.  EVENTUALLY, a very s-l-o-w elevator will open and you just hop on and press "4" because you are going to the fourth floor - I think.  This says third, but I remember 4th - I will check on this.

Now wait.  And wait.  Wait some more.  That guy out there staring at you doesn't care what you are doing, he wants the door to close so he can go back to sleep.  Keep on waiting - the door will finally close, and the oh so tired elevator will take its time closing its old timey gates and haul you ever-so-slowly up to the fourth floor.  Once the gates open and the door opens, you will be thoroughly confused as you may be standing alone.. looking into a warehouse hall-ish looking room.  And as you look around the room full of crates, you will realize that there is no one else but you - and maybe whoever you brought with you - standing there.  With a ton of boxes, and crates and an odd bit of packing trash - you will feel a huge amount of confusion.  It looks like a moving company dumped its container, partially unpacked - then left.  They did.  Stop and take a deep breath.  I have not yet lost you, but you sure do feel like it.

Go ahead...  Get off of the elevator  :-)  *nudge*   Believe me when I say the elevator will wait - it does wait.  It is   s-u-p-e-r   s-l-o-w.  Remember?  Step out of your security zone - it is ok... *nudges again*  it is so worth it... and you are almost there   :-)  Now look behind you.  Do you see those BIG doors on either side of the elevator?  Walk bravely up to one, grasp the handle and open it.  Go ahead... it is ok  :-)

Peek inside... do you see a breathing human being?  It is probably Nicole or her hubby  :-)  They will immediately notice you, graciously welcome you and immediately reassure you that you are indeed in the right place.  They take a moment to explain to you that they are  *not* a furniture store, but instead a *resourcing* warehouse and open to only a chosen few - and apparently, since you are standing there, you are among the *chosen*!   While they are going 90 to nothing chattering about their gold mine, you will be gazing off into the coolest warehouse of treasures anywhere...

They indeed seem truly happy to see you in their little hidden corner of the world.  They welcome you with open arms and share the secret of their pricing... A is for S $100, B is for S $200, C is for S $300... and so on.  If it says A35 then it is S $135.  If it isn't marked, you are welcome to tap Nicole on the shoulder as she flitters about the 2 warehouses (there is the other set of doors - remember?) and ask her the price - she knows.  They will tell you they travel all over the world and get their treasures, but China is very dear to them.  Most of their outsources use reclaimed wood to make new furniture; so it is not new, pristine furniture, but furniture and decorations with tons of character - years of use before it was 'reborn'.

Now it is time to wander around and enjoy the loot.

Just look at all this great home decorating *stuff*!  We ALL need stuff, right?

So sit back, relax and enjoy the view:

Give yourself plenty of time to explore the two warehouses chock full of loot.

Don't worry about the dust - it doesn't cover the beauty.

Dance to the music as you meander through the treasures.

Take your time to enjoy the beauty before you.

However,

This will not carry all the loot you may buy:

So bring your vehicle because you will buy something  :-)

MOST IMPORTANTLY, be sure to call or e-mail Nicole and her hubby first to make your appointment - she is probably busy shopping for a new treasure to sit in your home right now - and this is definitely not a store front...  it is indeed a warehouse.

Call or e-mail first!!

Thanks! I was there today and it was fantastic! Things were definitely about 50% cheaper than at most shops.

More directions
4. Continue on Keppel underneath the AYE. Do not take the ramp up to the AYE.
5.You will pass the building (look for Scanteak) and entrance will be on the left after building. Drive around and park in the back.
6.Take cargo elevator to 4th floor.

Faye and I have come to know the "Bs" over the past year, as we have frequesntly arranged (by telephone) to cruise through their 2 lifestyle 'rooms' (now one since part of a wall was recently removed)wondering what treasures there are for our Asian home improvements.
The warehouse elevator and dock experience is all true, which adds to the mystery (think walking through the back streets of Shanghai). Once up on 4, there are treasures, at great prices for you to explore, and changing by the week. Understand that the wares are never the same, rather new antiques and originals coming in all the time. What makes it even more cool, is the music and chaos, with the added touch of the Jim & Nicole welcome. Sweet!
Go there, enjoy a walkabout, know that the 'B' family know their pricing (ie, accept as is) and go home with some exceptional stuff. And, there is delivery for a modest fee.
Do ask for a diet coke.

Flora, she is truly a great source! She did sell the bikes, but I don't know that she has them any more. She has lots of other loot though!

Good post. I study something more challenging on completely different blogs everyday. It is going to always be stimulating to learn content material from different writers and apply just a little something from their store. I’d want to use some with the content material on my weblog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll offer you a link in your net blog. Thanks for sharing. casino real money
