Sentosa Island Sand Sculptures

Leone and I took a morning and went to Sentosa Island yesterday.  Leone had seen a tv special about the Sand Sculptures at Palawan Beach so we had to go check them out.

We found this little guy laying around while there.  He is part of a children's sand sculpture project.  Several times a day, someone guides children to make different parts of a sculpture.  They make simple designs with lots of guidance.

We watched the man teaching the children how to make sand balls yesterday - like what is used in the eyes of this little guy:

Moving on down the beach, we found this:

And on the other side:

Nope, it is not the same, look at the crescent on the left side of the bottom face, then compare it to the top one.

And between these gentleman, we found this young lady:

Pretty amazing isn't it?

Finally, working diligently on his next masterpiece, we found  JOOheng Tan:

I know his name, because I bought his book on making sand sculptures called ShiftingSand:

It has some of his favorite sand sculptures he has built all over the world.  He is trying to get sand sculptures recognized as art - I think he may be on to something!  Is this not art?

Yep, I think it just might be  :-)

Every day this week, more sand sculptures will be added to the display.  On Saturday and Sunday, you should head out early to see them as they will be finished by then.  They are under cover so they are protected from the rain.   However, if you are smart like were, a quiet weekday morning might suit you better.  Head on out to Palawan Beach - short trip, lots of beauty.

Walking on down the beach, we found some more art:

Patience made it worth the wait:

And though this is not a great picture of the flutterby, I love the bokah (the background):

I know it is not great to most eyes, but to me it is pleasing.

And finally, do you recognize a journey when you see it?

Every day in life is a journey of adventure to me.  I hope it is to you as well.

Enjoy the journey.
