Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay (pronounced 'key') is an area on the Singapore River between Boat Quay and Robertson Quay. It is a beautiful area of Singapore, with shopping, restaraunts and sightseeing along the entire area. Steve and I went here on Sunday night - after finally finishing our first tour. It is so pretty to walk through - it is bright and colorful and definitely set up to attract tourists.

It is very colorful and enchanting:

It is interesting because next to all this color is restaraunts that are very Asian and unique:

Christmas decorations were being added:

Not sure I was comfortable with the ladders though. I am certain I would not have climbed them.

We noted the boats on the river and decided to take a 'cruise' after supper:

The shopping area in the Quay is covered by very modern awnings. Here you can barely see them:

But this is what they look like when we get closer:

Aren't they cool?

Here you can see them in the distance. We were setting eating supper on the river when I took this picture:

Supper consisted of prawns (shrimp) in egg batter lightly (reallllly lightly - as in nearly not cooked) 'fried' in a wok... not what either of us was expecting. However, we have come to expect the unexpected here in Singapore...

We also had fried noodles. The noodles were good, but they are a bit (chili pepper) hot. Believe me, we did not over eat tonight.

And finally the transformation of the Quay started. Day began to turn into night:
